Notice for use of R4 TOP: when TF card (MicroSD card) is inserted into R4 TOP, the front face of TF card shall be the same face as the back face of R4 TOP.
1. Loading system
Connect TF card to a computer with a card reader, and open the decompressed folder as downloaded from this website.
a. Load the kernel of the game: copy three files under the directory of the game’s kernel named _DS_MENU，TTMENU，TTMENU.DAT, and SYSTEM file to the root directory of TF card.
b. Load the audio and video kernel: copy the folder moon shl and the file _DS_MSHL.NDS under the game’s directory to the root directory of TF card.
2. Copy games
Connect TF card to a computer with a card reader, and copy the downloaded games or any self-made program to TF card (the corresponding directory may be set up on demand).
3. Operation of main menu
Connect TF to the port Slot-1 of DS host computer through R4 TOP, turn on the power and first enter the picture of main menu. You can select game functions and multi-media functions with LEFT and RIGHT or touch. Press A to enter the corresponding function.
4. Operation of game menu
Select the Function of Game in the main menu to enter the picture of game.
a. In the picture of game, you can press SELECT to select the display mode (“SAVES”, “GAMES” and “ALL_FILES”, the default as “GAMES”), which is correspondingly displayed on the top line of the screen. Note: in the mode of “GAMES”, the kernel system files and display of contents will be shielded, and the files and contents with nature as “hidden” will not be displayed. In the mode of *.sav, you can press A for backup and saving (*.BAK).
b. You can enter the leading Slot-1or PassMe mode if you press START in the picture of game.
c. Upper screen displays the files or folders under directory. UP and DOWN are used for line rolling, and LEFT and RIGHT are used for page turning. The utmost upper area displays the route of current directory and the number of total files, the rolling bar at the utmost right side displays the position of current screen in all files. The files under the directory are arranged in order according to filenames, and the directory is at the utmost front and represented with <DIR>. The two-dot directory （ .. ）refers to the previous directory. The lower screen displays the details of a file or directory. For NDS and IDS game, the corresponding icon and title will be displayed. Press “X” to cancel the file currently selected, press A or touch “Enter” to cancel the file, and press B or touch “Delete” to invalidate the operation.
d. There is a small sun at the left upper corner of the touch panel of the game picture, and you can modify the four-level brightness of DSLite host computer by touch (DS host computer cannot be modified brightness, and the icon of small sun indicates grey).
e. In the lowest line of game picture touch panel are “DMA”, “Soft Reset Switch”. The red cross in front of “DMA” means the function of “DMA” open, and you can touch “DMA” to open or close the function of “DMA”. The red cross in front of “Reset” means opening the function of flexible reset, or otherwise it means closing the function. You can set “Flexible Reset Switch” by touch or pressing R. When you open the function of flexible reset, you can press the combination key “L+R+A+B+X+Y” in game to return the menu of R4 TOP. You shall not make flexible reset in the course of saving, or otherwise it will cause “file lost”. You should be better to return back to the main menu of the game to make flexible reset. If flexible reset fails or game operation is affected, you should close operation of flexible reset.
5. Operate games
For first operation, it will prompt whether you set up filing document. Press A or touch “Enter” to set up filing document and operate; press B or touch “Delete” to invalidate this operation; press X or touch “Ignore”, it will not set up the filing document and operate (for example, confirmation of self-made program without filing) .
While operating any game every time, the amendment date of filing document will be automatically amended. You can know the file’s time by seeing the final amendment date.
The title of main document of the filing document is same as that of the game, and the expanded name is SAV. You can backup to a computer or restore from a computer at any time.
6. Operation of Golden Finger
Select the corresponding game. If the official database (the file usrcheat.dat under system directory) or user database (the file usrcheat.dat under system directory) contains the Golden Finger of this game, the button “Golden Finger” will appear at the lower part of screen. The user can press Y or click this button to enter the setting interface of Golden Finger. The top line in upper screen displays the name of game, and from the second line displays the code of Golden Finger. In the lower screen, there are saving /setting option operation. The functions of the two buttons on the lower screen are described as follows:
“Save/Exit” press START to save the current amendment and exit.
“Cancel/Exit” press B not to save the current amendment and exit.
In case of opening Golden Finger, use UP and DOWN to select each Golden Finger code one by one. Press A to open /close this Golden Finger code; for any Golden Finger directory, press A to expand /combine this directory, and the user can check ten Golden Finger codes with UP and DOWN every time. If the user does not need the functions of Golden Finger, he can cancel the file usrcheat.dat under the directory of system, and can use the Golden Finger of TT and R4 when he copies the Golden Finger file of TT or R4 under the directory of system and change its name as usrcheat.dat. Before operation of the game, if the Golden Finger code has been open, the user can temporarily close the functions of Golden Finger by pressing L+R+START+DOWN in the course of game, or validate the Golden Finger again by pressing L+R+START+UP.
7. Watch electronic book and film
Copy the file txt or dpg onto tf, open nds, select the icon of musical denotation to enter moonshl, select the txt or dpg that you want to watch, and then press A. It has the following features: smooth play of videos pressed with DPG high-level filter, synchronous play, Chinese Interface, Chinese word bank, ID3 in Chinese language, mp3 label correctly showing Chinese standard, and pressing START to return back to the system.
